INTERNSHIP PROJECTS
PROJCET 1:
Postmortem Insulin Overdose
This presentation provides an analysis on postmortem insulin overdoses. This project was assigned to me based on an autopsy case that my preceptor already completed. The man was autopsied and was said to have died from natural causes. Days after the autopsy, the insurance company contacted Dr. Fulcher and asked if the man could have died from overdosing on insulin. I conducted research to determine if it was possible to test for an insulin overdose postmortem.
PROJECT 2:
Fire Extinguishers
The objective of this presentation was to compile research regarding another case that Dr. Fulcher already autopsied. The man was claimed to die of pneumonia. After the autopsy, the insurance company wanted to know if a large amount of exposure to a fire extinguisher 4 months prior to his death was related to his passing. The presentation shows my research on different types of fire extinguishers, classes of fires, chemcials released from each extinguisher, and health risks associated. I also provided Dr. Fulcher with a case study involving fire extinguisher exposure, which he used in his analysis.
PROJECT 3:
Female Reproductive Tract Infections: Viral Infections
For this project, I was assigned to reasearch female reproductive tract infections (RTI). I specifically had to focus on viral infections too. I concentrated on three main infections: human papillomavirus (HPV), hepatitis b virus (HBV), and herpes simplex virus (HSV). In this presentation, I evaluate each infection by describing the occurrence, transmission, symptoms, treatment, and prevention.
